Weekly Playlist 96

Words by Scenewave Australia - Published on August 8, 2013

Well, let’s be honest… we’ve slacked off with the playlist, but the quality toons from 2013 have by no means stopped coming! It’s an action packed Weekly Playlist 96 with some of our favs from the last month. Featuring tracks from The National, Wampire, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Cayucas, Tennis, Jagwar Ma, Disclosure, Kodaline, Ghostwood and Cloud Control.

The National – “Pink Rabbits”

My fav from their new album. Damn you Berninger you emotional genius! When he sings ‘I don’t know why you wanna dance with me now…” Beautiful stuff.

Wampire – “The Hearse”

Simple and understated. Great indie guitar pop.

Catfish & the Bottlemen – “Homesick”

These guys are the complete package. This track especially. Builds and builds and then drops an amazing chorus. Sensational banter to boot. MZ

Cayucas – “High School Lover”

Energetic surf pop to get you dancing and air-guitaring along with the riffage.

Tennis – “Origins”

Husband and wife teamed up and released a great record in 2012. This track reminds me a little of “The Look” by Metronomy if you like dat shit.

Jagwar Ma – “Let Her Go”

Ever wondered what the Beach Boys may have sounded like with synthesisers and filthy electro beatz? That’s Jagwar Ma. Hint of Elliott Smith in the chorus here too.

Disclosure feat. London Grammar – “Help Me Lose My Mind”

To be honest, the product of this collaboration is just as you’d expect from these two freaks. Deep bass buzz from Disclosure with the soothing London Grammar vocals to put you in a suspended state of rave and relaxation.

Kodaline – “All I Want” (Everything Everything Remix)

Awesome remix of an epic ballad. A must for the pres playlist. Pump the bass and try to keep the timing, I dare ya.

Ghostwood – “Red Version”

Gab Winterfield’s epic band before Jagwar Ma. Awesome stuff with a Twerks sort of vibe.

Cloud Control – “Scar”

Al Wright may well have been hanging out with some Cold War Kids records for the making of this track. Check the bridge.
