James Vincent McMorrow is Touring Aus (Again) Next Month

Words by Scenewave Australia - Published on April 17, 2014

The most wondrous and enchanting singer-songwriter out there, James Vincent McMorrow, is touring Australia next month.

His angelic  falsettos, his ethereal, otherworldly lyrics and his lovably scruffy beard have already graced our shores this year, as he helped us bring in 2014 at Falls Festival, alongside a string of solo shows. We caught him in Sydney, and if you have a read of our review, you’ll understand why we’re so excited that he’s coming back so soon.

Now, JVM makes his triumphant return, primary as part of Sydney’s Vivid Festival, alongside dates in Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne. His latest album Post Tropical (which was actually released while he was in Australia) received widespread critical acclaim, and it’s the kind of music which translates incredibly well to the stage.

Vivid Festival is one of the coolest things to happen all year in Sydney, and each year gets bigger and better. The lights, the projections, the art, the music, it genuinely makes me proud to live here – even in those pesky months where it’s too cold to flock to Bondi or Manly every day.

This year features a particularly stellar musical lineup. James Vincent McMorrow shares an incredible bill with acts  including The Pixies, Lauryn Hill and St Vincent. WOW.

Watching JVM performing at the Sydney Opera House will be an unforgettable experience indeed. So many people agree, in fact, that his first show sold out quickly – and there aren’t that many left for his second.

Anyway, grab tickets while you can. He puts on a mesmerising, beautiful live performance – one you don’t want to miss.

May 21 – Astor Theatre, Mount Lawley
May 23 – Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Brisbane
May 27 – The Forum, Melbourne
